Let’s wait and see: HD Kumaraswamy on Yeddyurappa’s new post

Mangaluru: Former Karnataka Chief Minister and Janata Dal-S state president HD Kumaraswamy today said the appointment of BS Yeddyurappa as the state president of BJP was not something to be celebrated.

“BJP activists are celebrating this announcement as if he has become the Chief Minister. Let us wait and see. During his tenure as Chief Minister he had sowed the seeds of corruption,” Kumaraswamy told reporters here.?

He said the BJP had no right to talk about corruption and the public would judge on the decision of the appointment.

Kumaraswamy also alleged that Congress government in the state had done nothing to solve problems like drought and power shortage.

The Centre had sanctioned Rs 1,541 crore to the state as compensation for crop damage. The state government had failed to distribute it to the beneficiaries.

He said the agriculture sector had been in a pathetic condition in the last two years and the state government was not giving enough encouragement to farmers.

Kumaraswamy said he was doubtful that the newly formed Anti-Corruption Bureau would help check corruption by bureaucrats.
