Life convict in murder case commits suicide

A murder convict committed suicide in Cherlapally Central Prison.

The deceased, R. Selva Raj, attempted hanging in Cherlapally Jail on Saturday. He was shifted to Gandhi Hospital where he died a few hours after admission, according to Kushaiguda police.

Selva Raj, a native of Tamil Nadu, was an accused in a 1995 murder case of Jinnaram Police Station of Medak district. The trial went on for almost two decades and on May 2, 2015, he was convicted for life by a Medak court. Since then, he was lodged in Medak Sub-Jail. On May 4 this year, he was shifted to Cherlapally Central Prison where he committed suicide. (INN)
