Mallu throws challenge at Harish on seeking action against Cong. Leaders

Refuting the allegations of Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao that the Congress government had released 93 percent funds but spent only 50 percent on the irrigation projects, TPCC challenged the TRS government to put the culprits in jail if it was true. He said there was no truth in the allegations made by Harish Rao and also there was no action against the Congress leaders.

Speaking to the media at Gandhi Bhavan here on Saturday along with official spokesperson K Mahesh after the party executive committee meeting, TPCC vice-president Mallu Ravi said the TRS government was giving an impression that it has completed the Kalvakurthi Lift Irrigation project just by inaugurating the project. “The Congress government had completed 93 percent of the work of the Kalvakurthi project”, he said and strongly condemned the allegations of the minister.

TPCC to move SC on MLN Sgar project issue

Speaking on Mallannasagar land oustees issue, Ravi said the Congress leaders would meet Governor ESL Narasimhan and submit a memorandum on the forceful land acquisition by the TRS government. Later, the party leaders would go to Gajwel to participate in a meeting organized by the Congress activists at Donthula Prasad Gardens and extend solidarity with the Vemulaghat farmers. He said the government was doing something on the ground and conveying different to the court. He said the government was still implementing G.O. No.123 instead of Land Acquisition Act of 2013. He said the farmers of Vemulaghat were completing 100 days of relay deekshas on September 12 and completing 50 days of imposition of prohibitory order under Section  144 Cr.P.C. in the village on the same day.

Alleging that the TRS government was resorting to suppressive rule more than the erstwhile British rule, Ravi said the TRS government was conducting survey without informing the farmers. He said his party leaders would meet the President on September 14 and 15 and submit a memorandum to him on the violations being committed by the TRS government in the land acquisition. He also said his party would approach the Supreme Court appealing it to direct the State government and High Court for implementation of Land Acquisition Act-2013 for acquiring land for Mallannasagar project. He said the government was acquiring lands forcefully by appointing 10 sub-registrars. The conditions in the affected villages were serious, he said.

Mallu said the TPCC was conducting training program to the party MPTCs and ZPTCs on September 19 and AICC general secretary in-charge of the State Digvijay Singh would attend the program. The party would conduct training program to Sarpanches on September 20 and former Union minister for Panchayat Raj Manishanker Iyer would attend the program.
