Man held for stealing gold chains from temple

New Delhi: A 38-year-old man was today arrested for allegedly stealing two gold chains from a temple in the national capital, police said today.

The police also recovered the two chains weighing 35 gms, valued at Rs 75,000, from his possession.

“Pankaj Gautam used to sell vegetables earlier.Due to his drinking habit he was short of money and indulged in theft,” a senior police official said.

“He stole two gold chains from an idol in Lord Ayyappa temple on April 12. He was identified using the CCTV footage of the premises and was arrested thereafter,” the official added.
