MANUU organizes Self Defence Training for Women, on International Women’s Day

Maulana Azad National Urdu University Centre for Women’s Studies Organizes Self Defence Training for women in Collaboration with Hapkido Federation India on 8th March, 2016, on the occasion of International Women’s Day. According to Dr. Amena Tahseen, Director Centre, IPS Officer Dr. Somia Misra, IGP, CID will be the chief guest while Mrs. Syeda Falak, International Karate Champion will be the honourary guest.

Violence against women and girls is one of the most widespread violations of human rights. Sexual assault, domestic violence, Eve Teasing, acid attacks, Women Trafficking, stalking etc, are the kinds of violence against women which cuts across all boundaries of age, race and culture. Hence, self-protection became a greater priority for Women.

Self-defence is a set of awareness, assertiveness, confrontation skills, safety strategies and physical techniques that enable women to successfully escape, resist and survive against the violent attacks.

One day self-defence training will provide psychological awareness and verbal skills, with physical training to prepare responses to slow down, de-escalate, or interrupt an attack. Interested female students/ scholars of MANUU may register their names by filling the application form & paying of Rs. 200/- (Two Hundred Only) as a registration fee @ Centre for Women’s Studies, Room No. 101, School of Arts & Social Sciences Building, Lecture Hall Complex, MANUU.

Registration form can also be downloaded from the MANUU website. Students are advised to nominate one of her friend of same height to make a “PAIR” for training. Certificate will be distributed after completion of training. Only (100) students will be selected on first come first basis.
