Mayor proposes 12 mini-cities on Hyderabad’s outskirts

GHMC Mayor Bonthu Ram Mohan has proposed 12 Mini Cities on the outskirts of Hyderabad to decongest traffic and resolve the problem of rising pollution in Greater Hyderabad.

Addressing a press conference after assuming charge at GHMC Headquarters here on Friday, the Mayor said all the promises made by Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao for development of Hyderabad would be fulfilled. He said that the work on construction of two new reservoirs on city’s outskirts would be given top priority. He said that Rs. 5 per meal scheme would be extended from present 51 to 150 Centres in the next few months. He said he would ensure better coordination and follow-up with the State Secretariat to get funds for city’s development. He said that the city could be developed only with people’s participation. Therefore, he sought the help of all sections of the society in turning Hyderabad into a truly global city.

The Mayor also assured that he would function in a transparent manner and the entire GHMC would be completely free from corruption. He also informed that the first General Body meeting of GHMC would be held in the next 15-20 days.

Deputy Mayor Baba Fasiuddin also assumed charge on Friday. (INN)
