Hyderabad: Energy Minister Jagadish Reddy on Saturday directed the officials of Energy Department to minimise power cuts in Greater Hyderabad while undertaking maintenance and repair works.

Addressing a review meeting with senior officials at the State Secretariat here, the minister instructed them to ensure that all maintenance and repair works are completed as per schedule. He said that the local residents should be given an advance notice of power cuts through media. Stating that there would rise in power demand during summer season, he said additional transformers should be provided to avoid any inconvenience to the consumers.

The minister also reviewed the works pertaining to new sub-station in the city. He said presently the power consumption in the city was about 45 Million Units. This is likely to go up in the next few days, he said. (INN)
