Minorities’ budget reduced

Hyderabad: Govt. of Telangana has enhanced the allocation of budget considerably for the SCs and STs whereas for Minorities, it reduced to the extent of Rs. 56 crores.

It may be mentioned that Govt. had allocated Rs. 1204 crore for the year 2016-17. Later, Rs. 101 crore was added and as a result of which the budget was increased to 1305 crore.

While presenting the budget in Assembly yesterday, Mr. Etala Rajender declared that Rs. 1249 crore have been allocated in the budget for the 2017-18 for Minorities.

It may be noted that Dept. of Minorities Welfare had submitted proposals for Rs. 1634 crore in which there was a proposal for the participation of Minorities in two unique industrial schemes. There was a suggestion for allocating Rs. 100 crore for “T-Prime” and “T-SEZ” schemes but the Govt. allocated Rs. 25 core for this purpose. By allocating Rs. 100 crore, the participation of Minorities in various industrial units could have been enhanced.

It is very surprising that the ruling party members are claiming that last year’s budget was Rs. 1204 crore and this year the allocation is Rs. 1249 crore and hence there is an enhancement which is wrong.
