New Delhi: Jamat-e-Islami Hind pointed out that almost two-thirds of the budget allocated for 2015-16 has not been utilized by the Ministry of Minority Affairs.
President of Jamat-e-Islami, Maulana Syed Jalaluddin Omeri told that 70.16% of the budget allocated for Ministry of Minority Affairs remains unutilized. It is to be noted that the allocated budget for this ministry is Rs. 3, 712. 78 crore for this Financial Year, out of which Rs. 1, 955.20 crore (52.66% of the budget estimate) was earmarked for disbursement of scholarship and Rs. 1,757.58 crore (47.34% of the total budget) was earmarked for the developmental and welfare schemes for Minorities.
Maulana Jalaluddin informed that this information was brought to light when Mr. Muqtar Abbas Naqvi, Minister of State for Minority Affairs replied to a question on this issue in Rajya Sabha on 15th December. According to his statement, the expenditure incurred on scholarships is Rs. 37.08 crore only which works out to 2% of the allocated budget for scholarship.
Mr. Nusrat Ali, Vice President of Jamat-e-Islami told that his organization feels that the budget for Minorities should be spent fully. He also claimed that the slogan of the Central Govt. “Subka Sath Subka Vikas” is nothing but the deception and plane rhetoric.
Jamat-e-Islami Hind feels that the SCs, STs and Minorities of this country, especially the Muslims need substantial financial assistance for their educational and economic development.
