Misuse of anti-dowry law: Woman elopes with lover, husband lands in jail for reportedly killing her

Bihar: In yet another case of misuse of anti-dowry law, a 25-year-old old woman who was reportedly killed by her husband for dowry, eloped with her lover.

According to the news published in India Today, Pinki, a Bihari woman who had got married to Manoj Sharma in 2015 went missing surprisingly a few months after her marriage.

Her parents registered a complaint against Manoj with police under dowry harassment law alleging that he had harassed and killed their daughter for dowry.

When Saraia Police officials recovered an unidentified decomposed body of a woman, they informed Pinki’s parents to come and identify.

Shockingly, Pinki’s parents falsely identified the decomposed body as their daughter.

Later, her husband, Manoj was arrested by police under murder charges and was sent to jail. He is currently lodged in jail.

However, a few weeks back, Manoj Sharma’s family members received information that Pinki is staying with a man in Cantt. area in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. After the news was confirmed, they informed the police.

According to police sources, before her marriage to Manoj Sharma which was performed against her wishes, Pinki had an affair with Mayur Malik.

Pinki and Malik eloped in 2015 and started staying together in Jabalpur.

Police suspect the involvement of many people in the conspiracy which framed Manoj for murder.

Further investigations are in progress.
