Modi govt wants railways to develop in the country: Manoj Sinha

New Delhi:Union minister Manoj Sinha on Wednesday took a dig at previous governments saying they focused on development of Railways only in Bihar, West Bengal and Amethi-Rae Bareli.

Flagging off Suheldev Superfast Express, a tri-weekly train between Ghazipur city and Anand Vihar, he said, the NDA government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi wants better rail network in the entire country including Uttar Pradesh.

“After independence, successive ministers looked after the development of Railways in Bihar, West Bengal and Rae Bareli-Amethi… Modiji is committed to the development in the entire country including UP,” the Minister of State for Railways said.

Taking personal interest in all round development of Railways in UP, the Prime Minister has sanctioned Rs 1.50 lakh crore for it, Sinha said.

While Rae Bareli and Amethi have been represented by Congress president Sonia Gandhi and vice president Rahul Gandhi in the Parliament respectively, Nitish Kumar and Lalu Prasad from Bihar and Mamta Banerjee from West Bengal have been railway ministers in the past.
