Muslims apprehensive as Govt. rakes up Uniform Civil Code issue

Hyderabad: With the Government asking the law commission to look into the contentious issue of bringing in a uniform civil code, apprehensions prevailed among public especially Muslims.

A meeting of Human Rights Protection Forum chaired by M A Kaleem Madani Seth was held at HRPF office on Monday. Forum authorities and workers attended the meeting. It was decided that a signature campaign would be launched opposing the government plan and a memorandum would be submitted to the president after collecting 5 lakh signatures. Besides that people belonging to various religions and different walks of life would be appealed to join the campaign by conducting meetings at various places.

Forum appealed people to support the campaign. Syed Jaffer Ahmed Al-Rifai, M A Ghaffar, M A Lateef and Abdul Hameed Shaukat attended the meeting.
