Nadda launches online Live Register for Nurses, two new courses

New Delhi: Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda on Monday launched a web-based Live Register for nurses, an attempt by the government to make data of the registered and active nurses online.

“This will help the government in better manpower planning and for making policy-level decisions for the nursing professionals in India. This will help in rationalisation and optimum utilisation of manpower,” said Nadda speaking at the Indian Nursing Council Office Complex here.

He also launched two new courses for the nurses — one in critical care and the other in primary healthcare.

Nadda said: “We also need to ponder on how the courses for training the nurses can be synced with the Skills India programme.”

“The role of the nursing staff can be compared equally to that of the doctors when we think of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The government has undertaken major expansion of nursing and technical education leading to a three-fold increase in the numbers of nursing institutions,” said Nadda.
