GHMC has received report regarding new house numbers for houses in L B Nagar, Uppal, Rajendra Nagar, Kukatpally, Qutubullahpur, Malkajgiri and Kapra. The GHMC will soon be rolling out the new house numbers and street sign boards for the twin cities and Rangareddy districts and all houses will be allotted a unique number.
According to sources vexed with longish house numbers with several numbers punctuated by hyphens and oblique strokes which make it difficult to locate the address, GHMC has decided to allot unique numbers after conducting a survey by a private agency. Earlier also GHMC had allotted new numbers on locality basis but the plan failed. Again GHMC has reallotted the numbers on circle basis.
It must be noted that the current house numbering system is cumbersome since it is not in a serial order and numbers are allocated in an ad hoc basis.
