There should be no hunger deaths: KTR

IT & Panchayat Raj Minister K Tarakarama Rao today said there should be no hunger deaths in the State for which the TRS government was committed to spend any amount of money to address the perpetual problems of food scarcity, famine and poverty.

Along with Transport Minister P Mahender Reddyand Chevella MP Konda Vishweshwar Reddy, KTR inaugurated Bhojanamritha – a modern kitchen by International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) at Narsingi village in Ranga Reddy district here. Speaking on the occasion, KTR lauded the efforts of the ISKCON for mass feeding and helping the poor to get rid of hunger. “Through this new program, the ISKCON is all set to provide food to 50,000 people every day. We need to build a society that helps people from hunger problems’” he said.

KTR said no person in Telangana State should face starvation problem. The Government, he said, will address the problems of the poorest of the poor to get them square meal a day. The government has taken a decision to draw food from Bhojanamritha to cater to the needs of Hamali workers and farmers in market yards, Rs 5 a meal scheme being offered by GHMC at various places in the twin cities for those who cannot afford. The poor should not be depressed by hunger, malnutrition, health and other daunting problems, he added. (NSS)
