No scarcity of water in Hyderabad – Decision to construct two water reservoirs

Hyderabad: Govt. of Telangana has taken a decision to construct two water reservoirs in order to check the scarcity of drinking water in Hyderabad city. The responsibility of preparation of project report has been given to a Central Govt. organization WAPCOS. The cost of the project is Rs. 1.80 lakh crore.

 

MD of Hyderabad Metro Water Supply and Sewerage Board had recommended this organization for entrusting the preparation of project report which the Govt. accepted.

 

It may be noted that Govt. has decided to construct a water reservoir at Keshavpuram in Shahmirpet Mandal to store 20 TMC drinking water whereas another water reservoir would be constructed at Chot Uppal to store another TMC drinking water. An estimate of Rs. 1660 crore and Rs. 1960 crore have been proposed for these two water reservoirs respectively. After the receipt project report, Govt. would start construction of these water reservoirs.
