‘Not my life’: Raising awareness on human trafficking through art

New Delhi: Aiming to raise awareness about human trafficking, particularly of children, an art show titled ‘Not my life’ is being hosted in the national capital.

The show, by Kanchan Chander and Dominique Gribot-Carroz, will be on at the Alliance Francaise till Monday.

“This is a platform that will use artwork to raise awareness about global human trafficking. Our approach is inspired by the documentary ‘Not My Life’ – first film to depict the cruel and dehumanizing practices of human trafficking and modern slavery on a global scale,” a statement from the organizers said.

The show would feature works from the artists and the screening of ‘Not my life’ — a 2011 American independent documentary.

The film was written, produced, and directed by Oscar nominee Robert Bilheimer, who had been asked to make the film by Antonio Maria Costa, executive director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime.

The artists also said they would donate a percentage of their sales to the awareness campaign that the ‘Not my life’ team has been conducting in India.
