Joining the Customs and Border Protection, Office of Human Resources Management will allow you to use your expertise in human resources staffing. This position starts at a salary of $94,796 (GS-13, Step 01). Apply for this exciting opportunity to strengthen Homeland Security by providing expert level advice on staffing issues and policies.

Duties
As a Human Resources Specialist in the Executive Services Staff, you will provide a full range of human resources services for political appointees, and for the Senior Executive Service (SES) program at U.S. Customs and Border Protection, to include the following:

Conducting the merit staffing process for career appointments in the SES, to include issuing vacancy announcements, evaluating the basic qualifications of applicants, conducting screening panels, scheduling interviews, issuing selection registers, and processing personnel actions.
Supporting the setting and adjustment of the rates of basic pay for SES members.
Supporting the SES performance appraisal system and certification process.
Supporting the allocation of executive resources, to include biennial and out-of-cycle requests.

Qualifications
GS-13: You qualify at the GS-13 level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience at the GS-12 level or equivalent performing duties such as consulting in the design and planning of future workforce; maintaining sources of firsthand information on developments, trends, and significant policy and legal decisions in staffing; providing authoritative guidance to organizational leaders and employees in the area of staffing; and evaluating and recommending appropriate human resources interventions to resolve complex staffing issues.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

You must:

Meet all qualification requirements, subject to verification at any stage of the application process; and
Meet all applicable Time in Grade requirements (current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the federal service) by Tuesday, June 20, 2017.
