Owaisi Brothers, MIM Legislators Acquitted by Court

The AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi, Lok Sabha Member from Hyderabad, and four legislators of his party, including his brother,   were acquitted by the Sangareddy Court today, in a case related to demolition of a mosque eleven years ago.

Asaduddin Owaisi, his brother Akbaruddin Owaisi, Ahmed Pasha Khadri, Mumtaz Ahmed Khan and Muazzam Khan (MIM legislators) got relief when the court acquitted them in the Muthangi Masjid demolition case.

It my be recalled that the five MIM leaders  were booked by the police on March 16, 2005, for obstructing officials from demolishing a mosque to facilitate road extension at Muthangi village. Asaduddin Owaisi had surrendered before the court on January 21, 2013, and was sent to jail after the court dismissed his petition for cancellation of the non-bailable warrant pending against him. He was granted bail later and released.

Owaisi’s Reaction

Reacting to the acquittal by the court, Asaduddin Owaisi wanted to know if the Congress party, which was in power then in Andhra Pradesh, would offer apology for booking the false case against them.

He tweeted that the mosque was demolished without following the due process of law.(NSS)
