Pension to 3 lakh single women from June 2: Jupally

State Government will give Rs 1000 pension to single women from state formation day of June 2, Minister for Panchayat Raj Jupally Krishna Rao has said.

Addressing the media at Secretariat today, Jupally said the State government will extend a helping hand to the single women through the pension scheme. With this scheme, over three lakh single women in the State will benefit and get Rs 2,000 pension for April and May months, he said. Krishna Rao also said the State government was spending adequate funds for the welfare of the women

The scheme to give pensions to single women and Beedi workers (women) that was announced by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao will get two months’ pension of Rs. 1000 per month on June 2. He said the State government has allotted Rs 500 crore for pensions and there are about 3 lakh single women and 80000 of Beedi workers. The officials were instructed with guidelines to take immediate steps and grama sabhas in villages and ward committee meetings at municipalities to select the beneficiaries. The process will be completed by May 25 and the officials are working on it he said adding that pensions can be availed from the Post offices, Krishna Rao added. (NSS
