Pocharam asks officials to help farmers in villages

Agriculture Minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy today said field level officials should work hard to implement schemes to help farmers flourish. The government will release input subsidy to the farmers soon, he said.

At an orientation program on Yasangi (Rabi) preparedness here, the minister said district level officials should coordinate with others to work at field level to help the farmers. As reorganization of the districts reduced the land area in each district, the officials should put online the details of the farmers and educate them on better and new farm practices. He also asked them to make arrangements for soil test, supply of quality seed, fertilizers and power supply.

The State government has sanctioned funds to the recognized old districts to be considered as seed farm units from November 3 and officials have to provide information and guidelines to the farmers. Srinivas Reddy also said the government was making efforts to store the produce in godowns which enables them to sell their produce for better price. District agriculture officials and staff are supposed to extended necessary inputs and suggestions to the farmers on crops for better yield, he added. (NSS)
