Poets should play a key role to eradicate communalism – Zahid Ali Khan

Hyderabad: Mr. Zahid Ali Khan, Editor of Siasat Urdu Daily advised the poets to present their thoughts with the help their pens to strengthen national integrations and to eradicate communalism. Their poems should contain passions of grief. He was delivering presidential speech on the occasion of literary conference and Mushaira held yesterday at Mehboob Husain Jigar Hall organized by Siasat Urdu Daily, JD Shiva and Sadbhavana Association.

Prof. S.A. Shukoor, Director of Urdu Academy, Mr. Osman Shaheed, Advocate, Mr. Mohammed Qamaruddin, former Engineer-in-Chief. Singer, Mr. Mohammed Zaheer attended the function.

Continuing his presidential speech, Mr. Zahid Ali Khan told that right from the beginning, Hyderabad has been the Citadel of Ganga-Jamuna civilization. The buildings of Hyderabad are the proof of it. The four minarets of Charminar are the symbols of Hindu, Muslim, Sikh and Christians. By looking at Charminar, one gets an impression that these minarets seem to pray for the peace and tranquility of this city. He told the poets that it is their bounden duty to generate warmth with their writings.

Various organizations including All India Muslim Front garlanded Mr. Zahid Ali Khan on his getting award in Delhi. Mr. Zahid Ali Khan garlanded Mr. Shameem Abbasi, Urdu poet from Mumbai and Mr. Lakshman Duba. Mr. Abbasi received applause from the audience on his poems. Mr. Lakshman Duba’s poems also were liked by the audience. The other poets who recited their poems were Dr. Farooq Shakeel, Mr. Jalal Arif, Mr. Nanak Singh Nashtar, Ms. Tasleem Gowhar, Ms. Elizabeth Kurien also recited their poems.

Mr. Syed Miskeen Ahmed was also felicitated on this occasion for the successful conduct of international Urdu mushaira. Mr. Khan Ather conducted the program.
