Police constable found dead in Maharashtra


Gadchiroli: A police constable, who had gone missing nearly a week ago, was today found dead in Arewada village of the district, police said.

The body of Bandu Wachami, attached with the police assistance centre at Kothi in Bhamragad tehsil, was recovered this morning from a bamboo depot, a release by Gadchiroli police said.

The constable had gone out of his post for some work on May 10 and not reported since then.

Prima facie, Wachami could have been killed by Naxals, state the release and added that two persons have been taken into custody for interrogation in connection with the case.

Meanwhile, police have intensified Anti-Naxal operations in the region, the release added.
