Police file murder case after body found in car

New Delhi: Police has registered a murder case following the death of a 37-year-old man whose body was found with a bullet wound to the chest in his car in southeast Delhi’s New Friends Colony area.

Mohammad Afzal’s body was found in the driver’s seat in his black Mahindra XUV by a passerby near the Holy Family Hospital on Okhla Road yesterday.

“While the case appeared to be that of suicide, we have registered a murder case since there were bullet injuries and there are no eyewitnesses in the case,” said a senior police officer.

“No suicide note has been found from the car where the body was found. The autopsy has been carried out and we will get a report in the next couple of days. In case it is found that he committed suicide, the murder case will be cancelled,” he said.

Afzal’s family alleged that he was murdered. However, police are yet to question his family since they are in shock.

“We will be speaking to his family soon to ascertain whether they have doubts on anybody,” he added.

It was suspected that Afzal was under depression since his snacks shop was demolished a few months back and he was under debt.
