Postage Stamp on KL Bapuji soon: Dattatreya

The State Government today offered rich tributes to Acharya Konda Lakshman Bapuji at Ravindra Bharati here.

At an official program to mark his birth centenary, the State government conducted the celebrations in a grand manner. Union Labour Minister Bandaru Dattatreya, Home Minister N Narsimha Reddy, Mahender Reddy, BC Welfare Minister Jogu Ramanna,MPs V Hanumantha Rao, R Ananda Bhaskar, MLAs R Krishnaiah and others attended.

Speaking on the occasion, Dattatreya said that he will soon release a “Postal Stamp in the name of Bapuji in recognition to his services to the state before bifurcation. The Union Minister suggested Telangana Government to name Jal Drushyam after Bapuji Memorial Center as a fitting tribute. Dattatreya also recalled that Bapuji made unrelenting efforts for statehood and appreciated the state government for conducting centenary officially.

Narsimha Reddy said that Bapuji was a source of inspiration for all those who fought for the statehood for Telangana.He waged a protracted movement for his dream and quit his ministerial post, Reddy noted.Reddy asked the youth to emulate Bapuji ideals for rapid growth and development.

R Krishnaiah said that Bapuji championed the cause of SC, ST, BC and vied for the uplift of the deprived class. He opined that government will get good name if it names Adilabad district after Konda Lakshman Bapuji from where he hailed. Demanding 50 per cent of reservations for BCs in legislatures, Krishnaiah sought the Centre to introduce a BC bill in Parliament to enable the BCs get equal political opportunities as MPs and MLAs.
