Pranab to pray at Kashi Vishwanath temple

Lucknow: President Pranab Mukherjee will offer prayers at the fabled Kashi Vishwanath temple in Varanasi on Thursday, officials said. Elaborate security arrangements are being made in the temple town after the Rashtrapati Bhawan confirmed the president’s visit, they said.

Mukherjee is coming to Varanasi on May 12 to attend the centenary celebrations of the Banaras Hindu University (BHU) and would be staying at the varsity guest house.

The president is expected to spend 30 minutes at the famous Shiva temple, which is part of the 12 Jyotirlinga’s in the country.

It is visited by prominent politicians and ordinary people alike from all over the world.
