Prince George gets his first royal stamp

Britain's Prince William returns with his son George to the Lind

Washington : Little Prince George gets featured on the Royal mail stamps which are being released to mark Queen Elizabeth II’s 90th birthday on April 21.

This also marks the first royal stamp for the two-year-old Prince, reports E! Online.

Posing beside his father in a white shirt with blue shorts and socks, he stands atop a box for the photo, putting on a contagious smile from ear to ear.

A statement from Royal Mail explains that the photo was taken in the summer of 2015 and noted the reason photographer Ranald Mackechnie had to place Prince George on the box.

“For both aesthetic and technical reasons Prince George couldn’t be positioned much lower within the photograph. The position of each portrait within the miniature sheet was critical due to tight technical constraints,” it said.

The statement also describes the other special stamps, “The six Special Stamps celebrate HRH The Queen’s birthday with three stamps focusing on Her Majesty’s family life, and three honoring The Queen’s official role.”

“The family stamps include an image of The Queen with her children, the young Prince Charles and Princess Anne. A stamp with the Duke of Edinburgh marks their long partnership. This is also the first time Royal Mail has issued a stamp featuring The Queen with her father,” it added.

The stamps will be available to buy from the Queen’s birthday and will be released to mark the Queen’s visit to the Royal Mail delivery office in Windsor on Wednesday for the 500th anniversary of the postal service. (ANI)
