Shimla: Heavy rain, thunder squall and snowfall are likely at isolated places in Himachal Pradesh lower and mid hills later this week, the weather department said today.
Issuing the warning, it said an induced upper air cyclonic circulation which is likely to form over northwest Rajasthan and adjoining Pakistan during the next 24 hours would affect Himalayan region.
The MeT office further predicted rains, thunderstorm and snowfall at isolated places in lower, mid and higher hills for six days from February 7 onwards.
The weather remained dry in the region but strong velocity winds swept the mid and higher hills, depriving the people of warmth of the sun.
There was no significant change in mercury and Keylong and Kalpa in tribal Lahaul and Spiti and Kinnaur districts recorded minimum temperatures of minus 8.4 and minus 1.6 degrees Celsius, respectively, while Manali shivered at 0.2 degrees Celsius.
Bhuntar recorded a 3.0 degrees Celsius, followed by Solan and Sundernagar (5.4), Shimla and Una (6.8), Palampur (7), Dharamsala (10.6) and Nahan (11.3).
Una was hottest in the region with the maximum temperature of 28.2 degrees Celsius while Sundernagar and Nahan recorded a high of 24.4 and 24.3 degrees Celsius followed by Bhuntar (23.2), Solan (21.7), Dharamsala (20.2), Shimla (16) and Kalpa (11).
