Los Angeles: Singer Robin Thicke has been accused of “excessively spanking” his six-year-old child by ex-wife Paula Patton in legal documents filed at a Los Angeles court.
However, a judge has denied the “Warcraft” actress’ request to limit the “Blurred Lines” singer’s joint custody of their son, Julian, reported The Wrap.
In the legal filing, Patton claimed she is “concerned that Respondent (Thicke) is engaging in alcohol and drug use while Julian is in his custody. I am aware that Respondent has a history of drug use, which existed during our marriage.”
She alleged that during the summer of 2014 when they separated, Thicke “looked ill. He was pale, clammy, and shaky. It was very uncharacteristic and I was worried about him.”
Patton also claimed after Julian showed her how Thicke spanked him, she responded with an “ow,” and added that “Julian said it was worse than that.”
“I then told Julian that I could not keep this secret anymore, and that I have to protect him,” Patton said, according to the documents.
“Principal Smith and Ms Mahajan called Department of Child and Family Services on January 4, 2017 to report their concerns about Respondent’s abuse of Julian. DCFS came to my home on January 9, 2017 and interviewed Julian and me,” the motion continued.
“They asked to interview Julian again, and they did in fact interview him again on January 11 , 2017. My understanding is that the DCFS investigation is still pending.”
As for Thicke’s declaration, the musician claimed he has not had physical contact with Julian since December 31, and that his ex-wife has denied him private access to their son on FaceTime, nor would she bring him to her house for a basketball lesson on January 5.
The latest filing stated that the current physical custody agreement gives Thicke overnights with his son every Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
After meeting on the Sunset Strip when Patton was 16 and Thicke was 14 in 1991, the couple was married in June 2005.
They announced their separation on February 24, 2014 after 21 years together amidst a high profile and tumultuous split.
Thicke is currently mourning the death of his father, Alan Thicke, who died suddenly on December 13, 2016, at age 69.
