Rs 15 lakh from Bank in Ludhiana robbed in 90 seconds

Ludhiana: At around 3:45 pm, four armed men robbed Rs 15 lakh from the Jawahar Nagar camp branch of the Punjab National Bank (PNB). The men with their faces covered, entered the bank and fired shots. They held the cashier at gunpoint and made away with the cash in less than two minutes.

Six bank employees and a customer were present in the bank at the time of the incident. The bank is just a few feet away from Kochhar market police post. The police have obtained CCTV footage of the incident. The police registered a case of robbery against unidentified accused and forensic team was called for investigation.

Police said that they fled towards a narrow street on motorcycles. As per police, this particular branch of the bank was issued a notice last year to hire security guards. This was not followed through. Ludhiana police commissioner JS Aulakh and DCP Dhruman Nimbale arrived at the spot to investigate soon after.
