Former member of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) Dr. O Srinivas Reddy has been appointed member of Executive Council of University of Hyderabad. Students’ federation has expressed strong anger on his appointment. Already the students are protesting against rising political intervention in educational environment of the university.
President has appointed Srinivas Reddy as executive Council member. Incharge Vice Chancellor of University of Hyderabad Dr. Dr. Periasamy issued appointment letter.
Meanwhile Srinivas Reddy clarified that he is an academician and he has no association with any political party. His appointment has been made on the basis of his experience.
However the Joint Action Committee formed to demand social justice to Rohith Vemula has strongly opposed and condemned Srinivas Reddy’s appointment.
Srinivas Reddy is an active leader of BJP. He has actively participated in election campaign for recently held GHMC polls in old city Hyderabad. He had been Greater Hyderabad ABVP president during 1990-91.
