Saina keen on investments, but wants her father to do it

World numero uno women’s shuttler Saina Nehwal today expressed her willingness to invest her hard-earned money in various business ventures, but wants her father to handle all the financial investments.

“I do not know anything about financial management, where to invest, in which businesses to invest. I will leave this good headache to my father. He will decide my financial aspects,” Saina told a section of the media here after she was named as the brand ambassador a company here.

Manay sportspersons like cricketer Yuvraj Singh had invested in business and had launched YouWeCab Ventures, which has made investments in JetSetGo, a marketplace for private jets and helipcopters.

The cricketer also has invested in Cybiz Brightstar Restaurants Private Limited, a company that has been entrusted by US-based premium burger chain Carl’s Jr to open 100 franchises across India.

Saina said apart from her father, Edelweiss, a financial service provider, will also help her to manage her hard-earned money.

“Definitely, the money which have been earned for many years now will be taken care by them (Edelweiss) also. I don’t really have to worry about it,” she said.

Asked if she was interested in investing in startups or launch a venture capital like YouWeCan, Saina said, “As I said earlier I do not know anything about it because I have been raised as such that my father did not discuss money with us. He was more bothered about how to become successful.”

About joining hands with Edelweiss, Saina said this will help her focus on her game and bring few more medals and laurels to the country.

“I am very happy to be associated with Edleweiss. Now, I can focus on my game and nothing else. My dad and the company can do the rest of the work (financial management),” she said.

Saina said because of her good performances she was approached for being brand ambassadors for many products and companies.

“If I perform well, things will follow suit. I don’t want to cut down on my training this. I want to work hard and bring few more medals and laurels to the country,” she added.
