Saudi Arabia sentences maid to death by stoning for cheating her husband

Riyadh: A servant maid from Sri Lanka working in Saudi Arabia admitted adultery. She was given death sentence to end her life by stoning. The man who committed this sin was given a punishment of 100 lashes.

The woman was working as maid in Riyadh since 2013. Her partner, a Sri Lanka citizen was also convicted for adultery in the month of August. Sharia Court awarded this punishment for cheating her husband.

Govt. of Sri Lanka appealed to Saudi Arabia to pardon her. Spokesperson of Sri Lankan Foreign Employment Bureau, Upul Deshapriya told that the bureau has hired lawyers to file an appeal in this case.

However, the officials of Saudi Embassy in Colombo did not respond to request.
