“Journalists have greater role of social responsibility than others, who are ought to discharge duties on social angle for the welfare of the society”, Finance Minister Etala Rajender has said.

Addressing national executive meeting of Indian Journalists’ Union at Hanamkonda in Warangal district, the Finance Minister said the scribes should write analytical stories and news on social angle for the people’s good. He also exhorted the journalists to write stories on social angle rather than stories for sensation and for rating. The State government was making efforts for development of the State in social angle, he said. The Finance Minister said Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has been giving top priority for the welfare and development and spending huge funds in the State, he claimed. The journalists have been playing key role at their levels from state to national level and rural areas on peoples’ issues. Ultimate aim of the journalists as well as the government is one and same to deliver goods to the poor and masses. We prepare plans and deliver programs to reach out to the unreached and the media should play a proactive and yet constructive role in traversing the fruits of development and labour to the poorest of the poor. Assuring all help for the media, the minister claimed that only Telangana State in India has come up with an ideal and the best policy of welfare for the cause of the journalists. He also said that the Budget 2016-17 is factual one with proper allocations to various departments.

Rajender also said unlike in the past, this time the government has taken care in bringing out a zero based budget that is with facts and details. “Our Government is coming up with a qualitative Budget making need-based allocations of funds to address the needs of all sections,” he said and asked journalists to give proper publicity to the welfare schemes and development programs of the government. (NSS)
