Johannesburg : World number one Serena Williams has withdrawn from the Madrid Open, which begins this weekend, due to flu.
The 21-time Grand Slam champion said in a statement that she was not 100 per cent fit as she was battling the flu, Sport24 reported.
Serena, the two-time winner in Madrid, will open her clay-court season at the Italian Open in May. (ANI)
