Seven killed after consuming spurious liquor in Rajasthan

Barmer: Seven persons have died after consuming spurious liquor in Rajasthan’s Barmer district.

The issue came to light when two BSF jawans died at a hospital after reportedly consuming spurious liquor on Monday.

The condition of 22 other people, who are undergoing treatment in hospitals in Jodhpur and Barmer, is said to be critical.

The government has announced an ex- gratia payment of Rs. 75 thousand each to the next of kin of those killed in the incident. In a swift action, the state government has so far suspended seven officials of the police and the excise department.

The team of excise department has located a spurious liquor factory in Jhinjhinyali village of Jaiselmer district and has seized seven drums of illicit liquor.

According to reports, one person has also been arrested in this case. (ANI)
