Showers soothe sultry Delhi

New Delhi: The capital received light to normal rainfall this evening, which gave respite to Delhiites reeling under a sultry weather, as the day’s heat ebbed giving way to a pleasant night.

The sudden downpour caught the residents off guard and led to traffic jams across parts of the city. Drizzle continued till late in the evening.

Earlier, the mercury settled at 36.8 degrees Celsius, three notches above the season’s average while the minimum temperature was recorded at 26 degrees Celsius, normal for this time of the year.

The humidity oscillated between 57 per cent and 85 per cent, the MeT department said.

The MeT office has predicted generally cloudy skies and rains for tomorrow.

“The skies will be generally cloudy. Rain and thundershower may occur in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to hover at 36 degrees Celsius and 26 degrees Celsius respectively,” a MeT official said.
