Speed up Metro works: NVS Reddy

Hyderabad: NVS Reddy, Managing Director of Hyderabad Metro Rail today inspected Metro Rail viaduct and station works from Begumpet to Hitec city in Metro Rail corridor-III today (Thursday). The Metro Rail Chief asked authorities concerned to speed up the works. Along with senior engineers of HMRL and L&T MRHL, he interacted with owners and shop keepers of some critical properties for facilitating Metro Rail station works and for smooth flow of traffic. Reddy convinced the owners of White House and Mebaz buildings at Begumpet who agreed to allow construction of Metro Rail pillars in the front portion of their buildings. While some space at White House will be cut for Metro viaduct, only open space in front of Mebaz building will be used for Metro pillar foundation. Both the buildings will be saved and alternate entry and exit facilities will be made for Mebaz building during the construction time by the Metro authorities.
Though Metro pillar and viaduct construction is completed near Kanaka Durga temple in Greenlands-Ameerpet stretch, about 25 to 30 feet of a few properties on the left side of the temple would be acquired for free flow of road traffic and safe electrical induction-free zone on top of the affected buildings. It was decided in the interaction at various places to protect properties while acquiring their lands for metro pillars. The officials will acquire only 25 to 30 feet of open area from Divya Shakti and Dhanunjaya Apartments in Madhapur, Tirumala Residency in Yusufguda agreed to give piece of open land in the front of the complex. Reddy asked authorities concerned to speed up the works including repairing of leaking water and sewer lines and improve the road conditions in Yousufguda-Madhura Nagar stretch. They were asked to complete the task in two months of taking up Metro foundations and pillar works in the balance portion from Yousufguda to Kotla Vijayabhaskar Reddy stadium. The officials will take up ground works, restore Road No.5 of Jubilee Hills and open it for road traffic within one-and-a-half months and to talk to the owners of a few affected properties at Jubilee Hills Check Post, Peddamma temple, Madhapur and Durgam Cheruvu Metro stations on Jubilee Hills Road No.36 to facilitate entry/exit points of the Metro stations. NVS Reddy directed them to remove encroachments by some of the property owners who erected electrical transformers, advertisement poles etc, on the footpaths and setback areas in violation of the building plans sanctioned by GHMC, to remove debris, construction material etc., and take all measures to keep the road in good condition from Ameerpet Junction to Hitec City Junction.
