Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari today asserted that the Telangana Government would move the court to get its rightful share of 1250 tmc of water from the Krishna and the Godavari Rivers.
The Deputy Chief Minister, who is on a tour of Adilabad district, said his government would go in for a legal battle for rivers’ waters. Seeking to know the stand of the Congress and Telugu Desam parties on the river water row, Kadiam took a dig at AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for trying to stall the works of the projects which are not new. Though Andhra Pradesh is persistently coming in the way, the projects works would go on to reach the target of irrigating one crore acres, he remarked.
The Telangana State is making use of waters less than 1000 tmc out of 1250 tmc allocated to it, he maintained. “Despite the “callous” attitude and mischievous propaganda by the AP government, we will not stall the works”, he asserted. Accusing the AP Government of hatching a conspiracy against the Telangana irrigation projects, Srihari said the works related to projects completion and redesigning has been taken up to get “our” share of waters. There is no truth in the argument of the AP Government against our projects and carrying out misinformation campaigning”, he fumed.
The Dy CM also slammed Krishna River Water Management Board (KRMB) for transcending its limits to bring other projects under purview. Srihari also took serious exception to the board for adopting a unilateral decision to release a notification after a draft plan on allocation of waters among the two Telugu States. (NSS)
