State Minorities Comm Hails TS Govt Decision—Release of Prisoners

The State Minorities Commission appreciated the decision of the Government of Telangana to release former constable Abdul Khadeer alongwith other 250 other convicts,  who were undergoing jail sentence of different term by granting remission.

The State Minorities Commission had recommended for release of Abdul Khadeer earlier to the erstwhile Government on the grounds that he had completed more than 25 years of Jail sentence and was unwell and had lost his leg leading  to gangrene.  The then Government had not acted upon the recommendations of Commission.

Subsequently the matter was again recommended to the Telangana Government and Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, so also to the president of India.  On a representation from the Commission,  the President of India had forwarded his recommendations to the Telangana Government in this instant case.

The decision of the Government of Telangana to release Abdul Khadeer is well received and is in the interest of justice to a man who has spent 25 years in Jail and has repented for the Crime committed.

The commission recommended that  Abdul Khadeer be provided with a rehabilitation package so that he can lead a respectable life.  (NSS)
