Supreme Court soon to become digitized with Digital project

New Delhi: The Apex Court of India is soon to go digital with no paper, in the next few days, an implementation of the digital project.

Currently, only fresh matters listed in the first five courts will have the digitized information for Judges on the devices.

The new project would let the Judges access the information related to cases on a device that has an interactive display said the Court’s Registry.

It also said that all the high courts have been instructed the same and login details have also been issued to courts to upload their digitized data in a certain format.

In a recent statement issued by the SC’s registry, it said “The Supreme Court has made all the preparations to make the court paperless. As the concept of paperless court involves various technical and functional issues, it is proposed to implement the project gradually, as it would be a new method of working for the advocates and judges.”

A new data management system has been set up recently for this initiative and high courts have so far uploaded large data to this system called the Integrated Case Management Information System or ICMIS of SC. It has also opened two help desk for helping people with the new system.

“The Supreme Court registry is communicating with all the high courts, even video-conferences have been held with the nodal officers of the high courts. The process will be periodically updated with the eventual aim of making the court paperless,” said the registry in its statement, NDTV reported.
