Surgical strikes by army made India proud: Rajnath

New Delhi: Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday lauded the Indian soldiers for making the country proud by carrying out “surgical strikes” across the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir.

Singh said not only the country, but the whole world was aware of the surgical strikes.

“The way our soldiers displayed valour made India proud,” Singh told reporters on the sidelines of an inauguration function of a public utility under the Swachh Bharat Mission here.

The Indian army launched surgical strikes on terror camps across the LoC in the early hours of September 29 in which, the Indian Army said, a large number of terrorists waiting to infiltrate India were killed.

Singh participated in several Swachh Bharat Mission programmes held here on Sunday to coincide with the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, and felicitated those who made contribution to the cleanliness drive.

He also paid tributes to former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri, whose birth anniversary was also celebrated on Sunday.

“Shastri ji has inspired many generations in India,” he said.
