Sushil slams Lalu over remarks

RJD chief today came under attack from leader Sushil Modi who cited purported comments by the former chief minister referring to gurdwaras.

“By describing his imprisonment as akin to a visit to a gurdwara, Prasad has insulted Sikhs and must apologise for the same without any delay,” he said in a statement here.

Claiming that Prasad had said a “jail is a place like a gurdwara which one must visit, otherwise one’s life will not be meaningful”, Modi charged that the RJD chief was “glorifying crime and corruption”.

Accusing Prasad of maintaining double standards, Modi alleged that while the RJD chief was exhorting the sons of poor people to go to jail, when it comes to his own two sons, he was leaving no stone unturned to send them to the state legislature.

Prasad’s two sons — Tej Pratap Yadav and Tejaswi Yadav — are contesting the Mahua and Raghopur Assembly seats, respectively, which go to polls in the third phase on October 28.

“Crime and corruption are non-issues as far as Lalu Prasad is concerned,” Modi charged.

The BJP leader, meanwhile, warned the people of Bihar against electing the grand secular alliance of JD(U), RJD and Congress saying that would tantamount to giving an open invitation to “jungle raj”, corruption and crime.

Prasad has given up all hopes of returning to power and is reduced to making only controversial remarks, Modi further charged.
