TDP threatens stir if power, bus charges increased

Telangana TDP today threatened agitation if the TRS government goes ahead with its proposed hike in power tariff and RTC fares.

Speaking to the media here on Thursday, State TDP chief L Ramana questioned the government abot the need to increase power tariff as well as RTC bus charges when the State has surplus funds and it was a rich State. Demanding that the government withdraw any move to hike charges, Ramana said KCR government was now trying to put burden on the people. If power tarrif and RTC fares were increased, his party would launch an agitation, he said.

Ramana alleged that KCR, who came to power by promising water, funds and employment, was now busy in providing water and funds to his farmhouse and jobs to TRS workers. He accused KCR of creating new problems instead of resolving the existing ones. “Now time has come to revolt against the government as people are fed up with two-year rule of TRS government which failed to even to control price hike of essential commodities.

Another TDP leader Ravula Chandrasekhar Reddy alleged that the TRS government was getting ready to put burden on the people by increasing power and RTC charges. The proposed move of the government would have cascading impact on essential commodities, he warned. Questioning the government about the need to hike charges when the State has surplus funds, Ravula said KCR was spending of crores of rupees for his official residence. Re-building of newly created State does mean to construct new building by collapsing demolishing he old ones.

Ravula alleged that KCR was building his official residence on the backside of the present camp office. He was building his camp offices for himself, Chief Secretary and DGP in the area of 20 acres of government land by spending crores of rupees of public money. If the government failed to withdraw its proposed move of hike, an agitation would be launched, the TDP senior leader warned. (NSS)
