Telangana State Haj Committee Special Officer Prof S A Shukoor on Sunday said that an increase of 1,100 to 1,800 seats is expected.
“The committee had allotted the Haj Committee of India roughly 1.25 lakh as compared to around a lakh last year. This will see an increase in the state’s Haj quota by around 800, ” Prof Shukkor said.
“Furthermore, K Chandrasekhar Rao has written to the Centre to hike the quota as Telangana is the youngest state,” he added.
“There will be several cancellations in states which are in the first phase. These cancellations will translate into more seats for states in the second phase,” he added.
