TPCC women to invite Priyanka to play Bathukamma at Gandhi Bhavan!

Is Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) Women Wing planning to invite AICC Chief Sonia Gandhi’s daughter Priyanka Gandhi for the Bathukamma Festival Celebrations to be conducted in Gandhi Bhavan? TPCC Women’s Wing Chief Neralla Sharadha has said that they will invite Priyanka Gandhi for the Festival whether the latter accepts their wish or not is a different thing.

Speaking to the media at Gandhi Bhavan here on Monday, Sharadha said that they would invite AICC Chief Sonia Gandhi for Bathukamma festival. “Soniaji may not come as her health may not support in this regard”, she said. Responding to a question, Sharadha said that they will try to invite Priyanka Gandhi for the Bathukamma festival. She said that they will play this time Bathukamma festival at Gandhi Bhavan in grand note. “We planned to play Bathukamma last year, but we cancelled the same last minute due to farmers’ suicides”, she recalled and said that this year they will invite the district women presidents to Gandhi Bhavan to play Bathukamma festival.

Earlier, targeting Nizamabad MP and Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s daughter K Kavitha, Sharadha wondered where the amount of Rs15 crore will go? The government was allocating the same amount wherever Kavitha plays Bathukamma. She demanded the government to allocate funds to gram panchayats as the latter will make facilities to play Bathukamma in their villages.

It was not correct on the part of the government to promote Kavitha and her NGO, Sharada alleged. She asked the State government to tell as to what they did the allocated Rs 10 crore last year. She also asked Kavitha, who asked votes in Hyderabad during GHMC elections, to tell where she had gone as the people of Hyderabad were suffering severely due to heavy rains. “Whether Kavitha selecting saris for Bathukamma festival or selecting matching blouse pieces”, she quipped.

Demanding the State government to allot more funds to Bathukamma and distribute the same to gram panchayats as Bathukamma was a festival of poor and not it was a festival of only Kavitha. (NSS)
