Tramway to connect Charminar, Moazzam Jahi Market on the cards?

Hyderabad: Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation is planning to run trams to improve transport system in old city. This was revealed by GHMC mayor Mr. B Ram Mohan during the Indo-French workshop on Charminar Pedestrianisation project and New Generation Tramway in Hyderabad on Monday.

Commissioner GHMC Dr. B Janardhan Reddy, MLC Mr. Syed Ameenul Hasan Jaffery, French delegates and corporator Syed Sohail Mahmood Quadri were also present in the workshop.

Dr. B Janardhan Reddy informed that in the first phase a 2.9 kms tramway to connect Moazzam Jahi Market to Charminar would be build.

During his address Mr. Syed Ameenul Hasan Jaffery batted for the proposal put forth by Prof. MS Taher in 1980 in which he had proposed to run trams in every area of the city to ensure eco-friendly and hassle-free transport system.
