TRS slams Congress on Secretariat jibe

Ruling party MLC Karne Prabhakar today criticized the Opposition Congress party for making absurd comments against the proposal of constructing a new Secretariat.

Addressing the media at TRS Legislature Party office here on Monday, Prabhakar accused the Congress party of making deliberate attempts to malign the government’s image in this regard. The plan of new Secretariat was to provide accommodation to all key departments at one place for smooth governance, he said. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao was planning to construct a new Secretariat for the purpose and there was no meaning in the Opposition’s outcry, he fumed.

He said the existing Secretariat has no place for parking as some buildings were built by Nizam rule and others about 50 to 60 years ago which are in bad condition. The Opposition should stop misinformation campaign as it was causing much inconvenience to the people that some of the main offices are located elsewhere in Erragadda, Malakpet and other areas instead of at one place, he said. Building a new complex with modern technology will help provide complete accommodation and facilities to all the heads of departments at one place, he added.

Though the Opposition was crying foul, the State government was firm to build a new one, Prabhakar said. He ridiculed the Congress for giving sermons on democracy while the previous Congress regime at the Centre had stifled the voice of newspapers during Emergency period. “Is it not true that the Congress government put as many as 1.80 lakh people behind bars during that infamous period”, he asked.
