TRS trying to win Palair bypoll depending on defections: Raghavulu

Khammam: CPM Politburo member B V Raghavulu has alleged that the ruling party was trying to win the Palair bye-election by depending upon party defections instead of public service.

Participating in the election campaign for the Left parties’ candidate Pothineni Sudarshan Rao here on Thursday, Raghavulu said the Congress has failed to play the main Opposition party role ably and the Palair bye-election was a fight between the ruling party’s “anti-people” policies and Left parties’ movements against the government’s faulty policies. He opined that there will be no use even if the Congress candidate goes to Assembly by winning the Palair Assembly constituency; but there was a need for Left parties’ candidate to go to the Assembly to expose the ruling party’s “anti-people” policies. The people of the Palair were responding positively to the Left parties’ argument in this regard, Raghavulu said.

The CPM leader alleged that the TRS was trying to win the bye-election by distributing money to voters. He flayed the ruling party for not initiating steps to eradicate drought in the State and stop the suicides by the farmers. Stating that the people of Palair were extending support to the Left parties’ candidate, Raghavulu said the ruling party was spending several crores of rupees in Palair to win the election. The CPM senior leader said the wise people of Palair would teach a fitting lesson to the ruling party.

CPI State secretary Chada Venkat Reddy said Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao was least bothered about the drought prevailing in the State. He made it clear that the Left parties’ movements will ensure victory to Pothineni Sudarshan Rao. (NSS)
