TS Govt to set up fire stations in all Assembly constituencies

Hyderabad: Home Minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy on Monday assured that Telangana Legislative Assembly that the State Government would increase the number of fire stations in the city.

Replying to a query during Question Hour, the Home Minister admitted that there were just 10 fire stations in the Old City and new stations with modern equipment would be established soon. He said that the State Government proposes to set up at least one fire station in each Assembly constituency.

The Home Minister said presently there were 95 fire stations in the State and the government proposes to establish another 46 stations. He said this year, Rs. 61.81 Crore were allocated for the Fire Services Department. This amount has been increased to Rs. 112 crore during 2016-17.

Replying to various queries raised by MIM MLA Syed Ahmed Pasha Quadri and other MLAs, Nayani said that the fire tenders were unable to reach some locations on time due to traffic or other reasons. Therefore, the State Government introduced Fire Motor Cycles in the State, he said. (INN)
